Happy Halloween!

So on Monday, about lunchtime, my sibling Kate sent me a link to the incredible Diana Eng’s supercool Lego costume.

I desperately needed a costume for my son’s institution Halloween celebration THAT exact same NIGHT, so I went ahead as well as put one together … with a few adjustments for the lazy.

First of all, you can’t purchase spray paint in Chicago (and I didn’t have time to wait on it to dry anyway) so I ran to house Depot as well as purchased a roll of the widest blue painter’s concealing tape they had (cost me about $11). then I hopped across the street to celebration City as well as purchased a bundle of plastic bowls in the exact same blue ($4). I taped the box completely, then I cut the holes for my head as well as arms. (I utilize an old serrated steak knife to cut cardboard.)

After trying it on to gauge appropriate placement, I stapled the bowls to the front of the box with an regular Swingline stapler (not a red one). I utilized a stapler since I’m sure I have a glue gun around right here somewhere, however bless me if I can discover it. I asked my child to bring me a genuine Lego block for reference, grabbed a Sharpie, as well as composed LEGO on all the bowls.

The whole costume, not counting driving to the store or the time it took me to relocation some bikes in the garage so I might get to the right-size box, was performed in about twenty minutes. Sweet! No stitching required, even!

I have to state that it was truly fun to be a huge Lego. great deals of youngsters came as much as me as well as stated “ARE YOU A … LEGO?” (I was great as well as stated “Yes” as well as not “No, I’m a banana.”) I likewise joked that Legos are extremely frightening to parents. They multiply as well as always end up underfoot …

Thanks extremely much to Kate for the link as well as to Diana (and the people at CRAFT) for the idea!

And in unrelated news, if you want to see me using the yellow-bird dress, there’s a photo up here.
